🙃 Blockhead Behavior

What did a SoCal police department do to conceal the faces of suspects on its social media accounts?

Slapped a Lego head on them.

Since early 2023, the Murrieta Police Department has been using emojis and Lego heads to hide the identities of crooks featured during “Mugshot Mondays” and “Wanted Wednesdays."

However, the Lego company was not having it. When they caught wind of the police department using their intellectual property, they ordered them to stop.

The cops are now looking for alternative ways to keep up their posts while keeping suspects anonymous.

At least the clown emoji is still fair game!

🌟 How To Reconnect with a Great Prospect

So you meet a high net worth prospect out in the wild. You have a nice conversation, exchange contact info, and part ways.

How do you go about following up without things getting #awkward? If you wait around until the next chance meeting, you might be waiting forever. ⌚

Here's how to do it with finesse:

👉 Make the first move: Don't assume the person you met is going to be the first to reach back out to you. Yes, even if you bonded over a niche interest no one else has. Shoot them an email or text or give them a call.

👉 Bring up the next event: If you met your prospect at an event, you can break the ice by reaching out and reminding them of the next one. For example, if you met at a sporting event, you can ask when they're planning on catching the next game and that you hope to see them there.

👉 Zero in on personal interests: If your prospect revealed an interest in something, extend them an invite you know they'll love. Do they enjoy trying new craft beers? Mention you're going to hit up the new local brewery and ask them if they'd like to join you.

👉 Invite them to dinner: Ask the prospect over to dinner or out for a nice meal. To make things more casual, invite them out with a group and ask them to bring their spouse along. Group settings also make for good conversation.

✅ Pro tip: If you get a prospect's business card, jot down quick notes from your convo on it right after you meet. This will help you remember key info when you reach back out.

📹 Top Tips for High Converting Videos

If you're not using video to generate leads, you're missing out. Today, video is one of the most powerful marketing tools out there.

Check out some of these statistics:

  • Videos on social media get shared 12 times more than text and images combined.

  • Marketers land 66% more qualified leads through video marketing.

  • Adding a video on a website’s landing page can increase conversion by 18%.

How do you stand out amongst a sea of viral videos? Here's the secret sauce:

  • Craft a great script: You want your video to be direct and to the point. Create a script around a specific problem your audience has and offer a solution. You could also add value by providing market insights and tips.

  • Open strong: People's attention spans are next to nothing these days. You have to hook them within the first moments of your video for them to stay engaged. Lead with a shocking stat, a question your audience may ask, or a bold (but honest) claim.

  • Tech matters: While you don't need a full on production studio, your video should be high-quality. Make sure the audio is clear and you're in a space with good lighting. If you want to go the extra mile, hire an editor to make things look polished.

  • Include a CTA: Your videos should always end with a clear call-to-action. This could be asking them to sign up for your newsletter, to subscribe to or follow your social media channel, or attend your next webinar.

  • Keep it short: When it comes to video, no matter which platform you post on, the shorter the better. Aim for one to two minutes in length to ensure your audience watches the entire thing.

Once it's live, don't forget to track your video's performance. Test out different openings, CTAs, and topics, see what performs best, and do more of that. 🔑

🤖 Tech Tip

Not getting the best suggestions on Netflix or Hulu?

It could be your watch history. 👀

To help the algorithm suggest more of what you like and less of what you don't, review your watch history and delete anything you weren't a fan of.

Bonus tip: create different profiles for different genres. For example, only watch true crime on one profile and comedy in another to keep things organized.

Did you know cooking oil can be used as fuel? Not only is it clean and renewable, it's far less expensive than alternatives.

Lootah Biofuels is a Dubai-based company that's turning old cooking oil into biodiesel to be used for transportation.

Each month, the company pays restaurants, bakeries, and food chains in exchange for 500,000 liters of oil waste. Last year, Lootah converted the waste into an impressive 770 tons of biofuel.

So far, the biofuel product has led to a reduction of 500 million tons of CO2! How's that for going green? 🌎🤩
